Giorgia O’keefe (1887-1986) is one of America’s
greatest painters. She was born in Wisconsin in 1887. At the age of twelve,
Georgia’s mother signed her up for painting lessons. Georgia decided to become
an artist. She wanted to create art that was personal and expressed her
feelings. Later on, Georgia moved to New York to go to art school. She began to paint flowers. She painted them
big and colorful so that the busy New Yorkers would stop and take time to look
at them.
