Sketching and Charcoal drawing

Overview:  January was a great month of drawing techniques and sketching with pencils and charcoal.  The kids did fantastic as usual! It was really nice to dedicate a month to a relevant technique. We do sketches for almost everything during in our art classes.  Working with the kids in such an important area of art will give them a great start for the many wonderful projects we will be doing during the year.

by: Alex

This is her first sketch, which turned out amazingly well for her very first experience doing sketches.  She followed the directions and ended with wonderful results.

by: James

His work is showing maturity in it's form, and accurate proportions.  As he sketches, he always tries to apply what he's learned from the class instructions.  Art is definently growing in him.

by: Maddy
Maddy is so focused on the light effects and details. Proportion was a little bit challenging for her, but she ended up having the most wonderful results. She is continually improving.

by: Savannah
Savannah listens while she works and did really well with the proportions on her first try.  She also did a good job with shading and association of the elements.  Good job!

by: Sophia
Sophia is the youngest student in the class and she always wants to add special touches to her art work, I love to see what she comes up with.  This is what creativity is all about!
